Punchestown and Badminton

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

April 23rd

Pat and I set off for the Punchestown Festival with the Tradestand. It’s normally a fun meeting and excellent racing. However the week was badly marred by atrocious weather conditions. On one of the days we had 98 miles an hour gales and had to evacuate the shopping village as the marquees were only built to stand 50 miles an hour winds! However there was only one marquee roof that got blown away!! It could have been worse!
The Irish seem to race no matter what! Undeterred, they dispensed with the chases as that track was really water-logged but went ahead with the hurdles and flat races. First race 5.0 pm. The horses and jockeys were mud soaked but still had large crowds there to cheer them home!

The awful weather continued on our journey back. It had been a hard ,fruitless week but at this point we were looking forward to Badminton Horse Trials this week.

April 30th

We were given the bad news at 10 am that Badminton was cancelled. The dreadful weather that had hit us in Ireland is now wreaking havoc in the south leaving the organisers no option but to abandon any hope of the competition going ahead.

The competitors will have trained all last year for this event but no one would like to see horses risking injury over those big ,solid obstacles.

For Traders , like ourselves, it makes things very hard. Badminton would be one of our major events and therefore we all “stock up” for the occasion. The proceeds help “oil the wheels” and we love to catch up with friends and customers.

For the first time ever I’ve decided to have a SALE! So do look on our website in the next few days for offers!!

Horse of the Year Show at the NEC

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

Our next show with the Trade stand is Horse of the Year Show at the NEC 4-9TH October.

Stand H5C near to the Caldene arena. We are all very excited as this is  the most prestigious Horse show of whole year and “everyone” is there! A great mix of people and horses. As usual we have some lovely pieces of jewellery on show and welcome CHRISTMAS ORDERS this week, giving us as much time as possible to carefully make each piece.

The last two years have also been lots fun having owned Hallmark 1X and winning the lightweight cob class both years and the Championship last year. Hallmark is now owned by Heather Boden and now competes in Maxi cobs.He will be ridden by Simon Reynolds at HOYS . We would like to send our best  wishes to Heather and the Reynolds team and here’s hoping Hallmark wins the first ever Maxi Cob championship at Hoys.

My own horse, this year is a young showjumper called Lux Fabulous who is produced for Sculpture to Wear by Paul Barker. He competes in the Equestrian Clearance Newcomer Final. I’ll be extremely nervous on Wednesday evening when he jumps and will be keeping my fingers well crossed!

Burghley Horse Trials

Burghley Horse Trials 1st-4th SEPTEMBER. STAND NO. B5

Probably the biggest and best event for “shoppers”!

How quickly it has come around again! For me it marks the end of the Summer  outdoor season and with that nip in the morning air whilst awaiting my turn for the showers I realise Autumn is fast approaching and Christmas is just around the corner.

This is also where we start to take many of our Christmas orders. Of course we are delighted to sell to you at the show and with ever increasing Gold and Silver prices it is wise to buy at the prices you see at our stand.

We look forwards, as always, to seeing our many friends and customers from over the years and to show you the start of the Hallmark Collection. This collection, of course has an equestrian theme but will be produced in Silver with a “splash” of 18 carat yellow gold to add a bit of glamour!

See you all soon, Rosemary.
